Communitas refers to to the very spirit of community. Victor Turner, a social anthropologist, explored liminal time (time out of time as it is experienced on a retreat or in smaller segments in a unique location removed from the day to day effects of worry and responsibility) and communal oneness. In a state of communitas, all members of a group are equal, allowing them to all and share a common experience.
